Dutch urban development

Almere Poort 2013

At the end of 2012 I was commissioned by the Dutch City of Almere to photograph the residents and the development of their new suburb Almere Poort for the period of one year.

Founded in 2005, the development of the township seemed to have come to a standstill during the crisis years, the exception being the self-build housing projects in the Homeruskwartier. For my project I concentrated on photographing self-build homes, as well as the residents within their unfinished landscape.

Today, most of the scenes in my photographs are no longer recognizable as the township of Almere Poort is now almost fully developed.
